Get in front of your computer and start typing... Fill out 30-40 apps, looks on CL. Can't just fill out 3-5 apps and expect a miracle with no school. Should have done the community college for like $100-200 and would have school and license taken care of.

DMV test is BS, anyone can pass it. And let's not talk about 4-wheeler license test.

    Why?!

How is someone who went through school any better than someone who learned from their friend, neither is going to be any good and both are going to go through company training where the real learning begins.

For the actual driving of the truck, then you are correct, both will need training.

But for the rest of the stuff that is involved with driving (such as regulations and logging) the person who took the school route will be far ahead of a driver who "learned from a friend" and a company will the hire the student before the casual driver just because they will not have to spend hours and hours explaining CDL regulations and logging to them. Just the way it is today.... time is money.

You have to remember that there is more to driving a truck than making it get from A to B

How are E-logs so difficult to explain, most of this big companies have e-logs and automatics, I could train my beagle to drive for one of them...

I guess I see your point SHC...

Try some local companies. Insurance at the big companies make it almost impossible if you don't go to school. Just don't give up. I have never been to school. Makes it harder to get hired but not impossible.

True, but there is more to it than log books too. What about a proper pretrip, proper securement, and other regulations we have to follow that 4 wheelers don't. You can learn it but the school would teach them that.

I honestly think these big companies hire people that went thru a school because their insurance companies require it.
