If he'll be pulling a bay trailer, I'd have to agree.

But if he'll be pulling a regular van and bumping docks at grocery stores, that might not be a bad deal.

It'd actually be a 48' van with a lift gate. Still gotta do the little convenience stores. No bumping docks.

I'm really leaning towards staying out on the road. At this point my only concern is freight. Not a good time to have the miles, miles, miles mindset.
Then again, 1800 miles at Melton is still more than Coke.

Doesn't sound worth the labor to me then. Just my .02.

The "miles"'mindset will wear a man down. I believe it was @TripleSix who said it best. The problem with counting beans is that you eventually get sick and tired of beans.

    .....Or something. :)

I personally would prefer to figure up what the run will pay and leave it at that, assuming of course that I'm being well paid to begin with.

If you're even somewhat interested in ltl, it's worth checking out. I grossed around $70K for 11 months in 2015.

That's the goal in the end, life permitting.
Im still fresh in this industry so exploring all areas to find my niche, but for the next few years I'm watching, learning, and saving towards leasing a truck I own onto a carrier like mercer. Flatbed or tanker preferably.

If the blessing known as fatherhood comes knocking I've got my eye on LTL as a fallback.

Maybe when I'm older I'll appreciate that feeling/stability versus being OTR

Maybe it's just me, but I find a certain degree of security in what is at least somewhat predictable.

Trust me there are definitely days I feel like that too
Maybe I just haven't broken down and been stranded enough times to really realize it yet
