Ok. First, Yatista, since you are asking, try Knight Refridgerated. Their pay after one year is .33 CPM, plus .02 CPM as a safety bonus. Their medical is about the same as GTI, but you will still earn more. FYI, I have called Four companies, Swift, Knight Refridgerated, GTI and ConWay. Swift is the same pay as GTI, .32 CPM after one year, but their medical is $ 79.00 per week, or x 4, would be $316.00 per month. And the previous conditions that I provided in my earlier post was from ConWay Truckload, NOT ConWay Freight. And yes, they are hiring trainees for OTR. I realize that there are other factors besides just money, but so far, out of the four companies that I have contacted, GTI would not, from a financial standpoint, be my first choice. And to T Brown SD, about GTI medical insurance. Please call Valerie Barney, Recriuter at GTI. Her # is (888) 832-6484 Ext.# 7038. Their medical insurance for an employee and a spouse only ( no kids) is $96.00 a week. x 4 would be $384.00 a month.

Employee $20
Spouse $57
2 children x $9 each = $18
Total = $95
I'm going to state that we have in writing, benefit policy DIRECTLY from GTI; $95 gets insurance for you, a spouse and 2 children.
Again, I'm not the driver but Yatista is and I would take from his experience and wisdom. There is a lot more to a company than cpm and insurance...one thing would be who the insurance company is. I've watched these boards over a number of years and I would give GTI a thumbs up for pure consistency - you just do not see the complaints and you do hear good. They also care about their drivers.
One last thing; my husband is a veteran with VA benefits as well. Unfortunately the VA doesn't pay your health care anywhere but the VAMC (perhaps it's different if you're service-connected disability). My husband went into anaphylactic shock in Dinosaur, CO...population around 500. They took him to a hospital in Rangely overnight - we're still paying the bill on that one!! -

I am still just a WannaBe looking into the industry and differnt companies but have learned alot about the options while cruising here. I have learned that who I will choose is more then pay and bennefits which have many variables (cpm, detention pay ect). Health plans have so many variables (deductibles, co-pays ect) that the cost is only one factor. Where the company has hubs and drop yards, freight lanes, new trucks, idle policy, apu's, pet policy, home time, safety rating, taking the truck home and on and on. Who I go with will be more about me then them. Will I find the perfect company that fits me? I believe I will, but I doubt it would fit anyone else EXACTLY like it will me. Does that make MY company good and the others bad, I don't believe so. These debates provide info for us lookers and we appreciate it. Thanks

I would like to thank everyone for their input on GTI. I too am looking at switching companies. Now with Swift for 6 months, it's time to move. too much BS and not enough honesty. the people they hire for DM's are a joke. Never seen the inside of a truck.
Spoke with two drivers on the road that like the company. They said ALL companies have problems, just at what level. Like its been said before, can you deal with it, and will it fit your needs. Looking at calling them today.
Thanks again. -
Idle Air is back and its under new management they dont have all the locations opened yet but they are getting most back online -
Thanks....
