I have been accepted to work for cargo express, I have been doing some research and cant find much at all online about them, but their pay is comparable to may and gordon, but they also offer bonuses, which the other two have suspended for the time being. Is there any reason I should stay away from cargo express?

There was a ad on Boise craigs list not long ago that was none to good. I think it was posted here, if you do a search of this forum you might find it.
    Good luck.
If you do go with them you might start a thread and let us know how it goes for you.

You would be better off to go to BSU for trucking school, but I went to Sage 2 years ago. Sage only teaches you enough to pass the state CDL road test. But you don't seem to get enough wheel time, in my opinion anyway, before you are set loose to find a job.

I'm going to the BSU school, it is now called the CWI trucking school and I like it a lot. We spent 3 weeks in the class room and will start in the trucks next week. We spend 6 weeks in the trucks and in our class we will have 3 to a truck. So driving time should not be a problem. All of the students in my class have passed their written test and have got their permits. So far so good.
If you are on unemployment there is a program called WIA, at least I think thats the name. The program will pay for your school if you jump though a few hoops. A few guys in my class got it and it sounds like a great deal.
    Good luck

i have some experience, i have been driving on a permit for a while, drove for prime and then did some side work with my uncle driving, I wanted to just test out privatley for my cdl using my uncles truck, but i have found that nobody wants to hire someone who self tests, so now I have to make a decision. I saw the ad on craigslist about cargo express, but its always hard to tell, people like to post bad things, who knows maybe he had a bad experience or false expecatations, but i would like to talk to someone who does or has worked there recently.

Causual152, i went to work there 2 years ago, and i didnt stay long, they asked if i wanted to run 11 western or 48. i signed the paper that i was to go 11 western and danged if they didnt try to put me out 48 right out of the gate. Their trucks leave a bit to what i call good, they are all or were older trucks with lots of miles on them and some had been wrecked and rebuilt. If the truck you drive needs repairs they will just move you from your truck to another truck, no you will never see your truck again.A friend of mine worked there as, where he had worked was part of digby anyway hauling swinging meat from Boise Idaho the tyson plant back to the Fruitland idaho terminal. well digby had to shut down that run cause the tyson plant closed, but anyway this guy was to be on a dedicated run from Boise to Denver and back. after his first run to Denver they routed him back east and he was 48 states after that. The wonderful mechanic they had then wasnt a certified deisel mechanic and was a pain in the arse to get things done, but he isnt there now so i dont know if they have a mechanic or even a good one. The trucks they have been running were the Kenworth T600 and the International cornbinder 9400i. The pay isnt that great as far as experienced drivers go, 27 to 29 cents per mile for experienced isnt good at all, might be good for a newbie. They will keep you out as long as they can unless you get after your dispatcher to get you home, meaning they will try to keep you out a month or 2 or more unless you say something. So anyway thats what i know about the from 2 years ago. take it for what its worth.

I have looked long and hard at schools and Sage seems to be good for me. They are PTDI certified and that helps out getting hired. I am going in January, then try to get on w/ either W/S, GTI, Prime, or May. I have also heard bad things about Cargo Express.
I really want to get a good trainer as they can destroy one's career before it starts. I've been in the construction trade for 26 years and it's time to change.
I noticed that you've been driving a couple years, how's your experience going??? I apprieciate your advice. Your Co. hiring hard working rookies??or train??? Thanks
