Anyone got info why a 05 Columbia with a 10spd auto and 3.58 rears would get only 5.8mpg at best?

I heard The Oracle (Kevin Rutherford) say that Pittsburgh Power has accomplished the de EGRing of these engines and is working out the bugs, try contacting them.

All you have to do is pull out the relative humidity sensor, test the resistance at 100% humidity, then find what resistor will give that reading, and replace the relative humidity sensor reading with a resistor at the plug that will match that reading, and the EGR will be disabeled. The EGR is disabeled by default in high humidity conditions, as it also is in high elevations.

where is the relative humidity sensor? and how would you know if u did have a 100% humidity reading?

I have some pics somewhere of the location of the sensor. I'll try to find them. I believe it's at the turbo intake. Hold the sensor over steaming water and check the resistance. Check the resistance in a room you know the humidity in, then during the steam session to make sure you are getting an accurate reading.

The humidity sensor is a dual sensor as far as I can tell, that reads turbo inlet air temp and humidity. It may be easier to trick the Barometric Pressure sensor located above the starter. When the engine is operated above 6500 ft evelation the EGR is disabled. I guess you would have to stop at the top of a very high mountain and get the reading off the Barometric sensor to know what resistance sensor to get for it.

I've not tried this, nor do I know of anyone that has. But, if Detroit's own service manual says the EGR is disabled at high elevations above 6500ft, at temperatures of less that 30 deg, and also at high humidity levels, then tricking the sensors into believing one of these parameters has been met using resistors will have to work.
