I never sold you a 1000 hp cam. I sold you a cam out of a C-16 that was also used in a 3406E for a short period of time in a 800Hp marine application and I told you this up front before you bought it.

For what this is worth...if a 3406E 15.8ltr. and a C16 are close to being the same I saw a marine program that was 900hp.right from Cat.I don't remember exactly but there were some pretty big industrial programs to,more than 700hp.

There is an industrial application of the C-16...........max power 660 hp ser # prefix BFM. As far as what's in a piece of machinery.........I'm not going to look that hard, but I'm 99% sure that most equipment used either a C-15 or the 3406E. As far as a C-16 marine application.........there is not anything listed by CAT, ever being built at any power level.

Why is that...........Because the C-15 and the C-18 were enough for the marine indrustery..........Or the C-16 wasn't a good engine...........
    Hope its the first reason:biggrin_2554:

Mr Haney is correct, there is no C-16 marine application (or big bore/stroke 3406E) offered by CAT. I'm pretty sure the reason is as 830hp C16 said, there was no real need for one as the C15 and C18 can cover all the power ranges required.

Not to side track you cat guys......... But I would like to know a couple of parts that could get my 12.7 into the 575-600 range. Any thoughts? Martin You need to have Alice give you my number too so we can discuss this.

Depending on what hp. rating you are starting you may be able to just get a PP box and you'll be right where you want.I'll presume you want that power at the wheels.
