there are a lot of early to mid 90's t-600 out the with detroit 60 in them. you can put anymotor in a new glider. new gliders that are around are pet 389 387 frei. corandos and columbia. there a place in ten.called fitzgrelads ni belive that have them in stock. thats all they do is build and sell glider kit. they will do just aboit anything you want. from what i here

for nearly the same price as a new truck. not worth it when you figure in the low resale value of a glider. 550 priced one from them

Im still liking the 12.7 I bought. Put about 20k on it so far no problems, Good fuel milage more then enough power to get the job done. Im fixing to change the oil in it for the 2nd time since I bought it and I have added 1 quart in over 12k and it has a small leak on the valve cover that would account for that amount.

does anyone know at what HP levels the 14 liter has mechanical differences? the ones I'm looking at are 455hp. How high can they go before needing to change hard parts

Pitt Power/ Kevin Rutherford builds Coronados with modified pre-EGR detroits for less than 75% market value so you don't have to pay the FET. He has one on the road right now pulling heavy both ways from Utah to seattle averaging 8+ MPG

heres a detroit thread for you.

We have 3 trucks at my company.

    06 Western Star, with a 10car setup, 475 14l detroit 13spd.

    06 Pete 475 C15 Acert, 10 car. 13 speed

    01 Pete C15 550hp, 10 car 18spd.

Both of the Pete's run similar, we both get 5.5mpg, and pull like hell. The Detroit in the Western Star is a dog, cant pull hills for anything.

Infact, on Identical loads, I can pass, and get to our fuel stop and be done fueling before the western star gets there. I pull on him 7-10 miles in a 35 mile stretch of road, the western star sucks, and it is all because of the lack of power of the detroit.

I ran the Detroit for a while, it took 30 minutes extra to go the same 330 mile trip I do with the Cat.

The detroit to boot only makes 5mpg cause it is always pulling.

sounds like something is wrong with that particular detroit. Oh i see what it is, it's an 06 whereas the 01 doesn't have emmisions and the 06 cat just paid a fine to not put emmisions on. then again the star is one big fat brick, too.
