Marksteven,
Sadly, I can assure you that it is not a joke. A while back, while getting fuel, I picked up a truckstop employment magazine. I an sure you know the ones I am talking about. While unloading, just for fun, I called a few of those companies that were advertising for drivers. I think I called Swift, Schneider, Crete and Knight.
Now there is no way I would ever leave my employer for any of those "jobs" but I inquired about employment. Every one of them stated I do not qualify for OTR and would have to attend a school or go out with a trainer for X amount of weeks.
Can you imagine that? Leave a good paying driving career only to be gone for weeks at a time and being paid sub-standard wages to show for it! No thank you.
Now if there was an OTR carrier that paid the driver for all of their on duty time, it might sound interesting. But I doubt it. I think I doubt it.
Drive safe
Got a job interview!!!!!

You know what, i honestly believe you. thats why those type of companies attract drivers that leave after a year , bounce around between OTR companies, never get seniority with a company and really cant back a truck up if their live's depended on it.thats why they would rather have someone with OTR experience. the first time someone told me i would be gone on the road for 10-14 days, their equipment would be parked waiting for someone fresh out of orientation to come get it while i would be enroute to an airport to get home. -
okay i need some answer on this..... i applied for a job that is offering better pay then the place i just started at and they only want six months experience or less would they hire me and would the company im working for now would they get mad at me if i left them or give me a bad report. i would put in my two weeks notice. \\

You must give written notice and it must be notarized with the date.
