I was laid OFF twice in one year, started a business that failed, lost both butt cheeks and needed to find a job that I could make a living at. It will be tough at first but it beats working for $10-$12 an hour with no hope to improve. I have always enjoyed driving and seeing new places and I was good at getting from point A to point B. Add the fact that I don't mind working alone and spending time by myself, I think I fit the job. My wife is afraid and I have been working with her on this. Maybe I can get a Regional Route and be home on a more regular schedule.

I just grew up around them. Other kids got rides on lawn mowers, I got rides in an old white. While other kids were playing with toy cars I was playing with toy trucks. Always tripped my trigger and always interested me. I still have days where I wonder why I do this...and when that old cat turns over in the morning and the coal rolls out of the stacks I remember why I do it. Plus I get a queen sized bed 5 nights a week that I don't have to share who can argue with that?

Growing up I had a neighbor that was a owner operator and his truck always intrigued me. Plus with my parents we always traveled which I loved to do.
Then later on I lived in the boonies where opportunities are limited. After working as a warehouseman I was always around truck drivers. Finally I got laid off and was thinking about going OTR. The job called me back to haul workers around the nuclear plant construction project in the back of a straight truck. After unable to shift and slinging the workers around with them yelling was the deal breaker.A couple weeks later I was in school and never looked back.
