Loved trucks since I was little. Long story short, I went to CDL school to learn how to drive a straight truck to help my boss. Wound up behind the wheel of a TT and loved it; passed the A test a few months ago. Boss now in the process of selling her straight truck :/ Go figure! So, I work part-time for an acquaintance of hers; an owner-operator; but for now can only drive the non-CDL vehicles until his insurance will approve me.

Also love having the A license if I need to get a full time job.

I wanted to drive one since I was a kid. It's not just about the truck either. I love to drive anything with wheels, and some things without.

trucking is something you have got to want to do. the pay sucks for the most part. more often then not. you spend about 10 days a month sitting in a truck stop parking lot waiting for the next load. and it seems like these days. companies are firing over anything. and they are being really nit picky about hiring.

A couple of reasons. First off, you can get the newbies to work a whole lot cheaper, than a veteran driver. Second, you can BS the hell out of a greenhorn, where an old driver will recognize it for what it is, and laugh at you.

There are some companies that recognize the gold they have with a veteran driver. But the bottom feeder outfits that make their living on the lower side of life, figure it is better to hire the new ones, keep 'em running 90 days or so, then run 'em off. After all, there are plenty more green ones, where those came from. Most of the "starter companies," are this way.

13 years in the Coast Guard and medical discharged in 1996. Tried to run a retail store but Bad location, (out of sight and out of mind in a Dead town) it did not fly. I went into Trucking started with CR England. I wanted to drive cause of my father was one who wanted but never did. But he also wanted to go into the Military but could not due to health issues. He did drive locally and was begged by the Boss to go over the road, even offered to buy him a Brand new truck if he would. But Pop would not go but I did ride with him in town. Plus I always liked trucks even when I was a kid. Plus I traveled since I was 20 when I joined the service. Between The USCG and trucking I been in all 50 States and some other Countries.

I since have left trucking due to health issues and the walls are closing in on me. With luck I will return soon and screw the pain, I hurt anyway even sitting here at home. (So please wish me Luck)

Scared? Yes, but like many have stated many of us was. Much different than driving a small car. But I have driven something much bigger and much more dangerous, though some others was more dangerous. 378 foot Coast Guard Cutter with a 5" Gun. But it did not have wheels.
