Just doing some job research about trucking companies. I'm in the military now (serving in Iraq), will be retiring in Sep 2011. This seems to be a good company from what I read so far, if any current drivers could put in some more info about the company I would appreciate it, thanks and be safe out there!!

Still waiting to hear back from Crete after sending in the documents they requested. I'll update more once things get rolling again.

    Thanks, guys.

Well, not an hour goes by after posting my last update and I get a call from the recruiter. Looks like I'll be going to orientation next Monday in New Kingstown. Apparently this will consist of a drug screen, physical test, and road test, among other things.

I'm curious to see how the road test goes and what it consists of.

Jedi Trucker do you still have the letters that the TSA sent you saying that you meet the requirements to hold an HME.

Never recieved anything like that, at least not yet.

After completing the hazmat test, I got papers authorizing me to go to the state police and get fingerprinted. Today, I got a new license in the mail with the X endorsement on it. This is all I've gotten so far, as far as hazmat is concerned.

Glad to hear you got on with Crete. Keep us posted on how things are going for you. I will be getting my CDL shortly and am looking into several different options. These guys are one of them.

I believe Homeland Security sends you a letter in 30 days after you are fingerprinted. I started with Crete after I went through CDL training back in 2008 and stayed for a year. I was out of their Macungie terminal (dirt lot). I really liked it there but 08 was a tough year for trucking. I have an LTL job now but still might go back if things look good. Please keep us posted on your progress. Good luck and be safe!

The state trooper did say I'd be receiving some documents in the mail within 6 weeks or so. I'm assuming those must be the ones from the department of awesome.

Wicked Wizard: Strangely enough, my tentative plan was to get some experience with Crete then look for an LTL job. But, I guess if Crete turns out to be that good I might just stick around.

I've got a question for you. Since you seem to live right around 50 miles from the Macungie terminal, did they allow you to take the truck home during home time?

    I'll continue to update.
