Apples and oranges, bro. Unless you have the same weight, same size tires, same transmission, and same rears it's impossible to say yours is any better than anything else. I didn't say anything about the cat, it was a zillion-mile truck...

Love the "pulling hills" stories, lol. What a crock. So after hitting top of incline, a conversation takes place stating all specs of truck, including exact weight, and if the engine is a "red top", ISX, or 3406, etc. Lol, get a life buddy. You've "eaten" anything you claim to eat.goin2fast10 and mountaingote Thank this.

Inferiority complex.....mountaingote Thanks this.

Honest? Truth hurts.... If you're homeless it's great truck to turn on to keep you warm and provide a bed. Which is what it will always be. Personally I'd choose a dodge caravan.

c15 is the best engine ever. Older versions. Sure poor milage per gallon and oil burning. But power and life on that engine is miraculous. In my personal option of course.
-
I've run a lot of miles in cat-powered trucks, and I've found the best way to make them run better is paint em green or red....lol
-
So you saying that it is a good truck for 1st one
-
I think you'll find that; Cat supplied the Block/head /pistons/sump ect. To which was Added the German MAN fuel system.& International cobbled together the Air intake & exhaust Systems. Which was the downfall of the whole arrangement.
This is My understanding of the Maxforce engine But more than happy to be corrected.rocknroll81, mountaingote and Hurst Thank this. -
Nothing with the Maxxforce is good, I wouldn't take a truck with that engine if it was given to me.201 Thanks this.
-
I didnt know that.
Hard to imagine an engine manuafacturer with the kind of reputation for reliability and longevity that CAT has being intermingled with something like the maxxforce engines.
Back in the day there were really only 2 left lane engines for truckers, CAT or Cummins.
Shame we lost CAT. I'm hoping they return with something bigger and better. Else we may end up with Mercedes, Izuzu or other foreign engines in whats left of American class 8 trucks.
Hurstrocknroll81 Thanks this.
