Doesn't Maverick run automatics?
-
Yes, Maverick does run automatics - at least that is what I have read and what my husband told me, I do not know if they have any manuals.
lumberjaxxx Thanks this. -
What can you expect? Well in the next few weeks to months unfortunately you can expect snow so pay LOTS of attention to everything you're learning. As far as Maverick is concerned, I can't help you, but for any new driver this is a nerve wracking time of year to start your career. But honestly I'd rather get training in the winter time from a professional rather than the summer because you can learn the correct way to operate your vehicle in those conditions. If you train in the dead of summer and then hit your first winter you're more prone to make mistakes in my opinion.
Good luck, have fun.lumberjaxxx Thanks this. -
So what happened to the tree service?
Did trees stop growing?
Ok, in all seriousness...
Maverick is a great place to start. Yea they have automatics (boo) but they seem
to treat their people well. JimTheHut on here is very happy and has been there (after his training) for over 1.5yrs now I think.
Jim gets home almost every weekend, but it is usually only for his 34hr reset and only since he lives literally right
on the route area...
It's a good decision....against the other choices for starter companies.

Do you live in Florida by chance??
-
thanks for all the info , it helps alot. i heard that it is good to start in the winter , so i can get a feel for winter time driving. i live in louisville kentucky, so im a lil used to some winter driving. and no the trees are still growing, after 30 yrs of it its time to let someone else have it .

If they still have any of the orange trucks from Schneider specialized those were manual 10 speeds.

I have been looking for a company that would hire me as well. I have owned a topsoil mulch production company for 8 years. I have tons of time with dump trucks, drags, and flatbed. But I don't know how to verify my exp. When I call a company they always ask "what exp. do you have?" I don't how to prove what I have done. I have years of exp. permitting oversize and over weight loads but I don't know how to prove that to potential employers. I had to close my business in Aug. of 2010. I have no other job offers and need a better career than I have now. I did some steel coil as well.

Did you have to run a log book? I would think that would be verification.
