This is why I am glad my truck don't go faster then 67 mph. I don't give a cht who passes me. I rather get passed doing 67 then get passed signing a ticket.....
I run Oregon Wa, Mt, and Id. So it don't matter much cause I'm breaking the limit the whole time anyway.

    What ever happens....good luck.

GET A LAWYER! Always get a lawyer! When you call the number on the ticket to find out what the fine is ask the person if they know a good lawyer. The court people usually do and might get something from the lawyer for the job! OR just google the town or county. Most of the time you do not have to show up as the lawyer does all the work. You already know what the fine is so thats not going to be a surprise but the lawyer will tell you his rate and what you do is send him a check for both his rate and the fine. He;ll take care of everything hopefully getting it reduced down to something other than a speeding ticket.

Also, that CA cop in an earlier post. I got one in CA and that arse wipe told me the same thing. I think all CA cops lie to truckers! I still got a lawyer and he told me that they do that so you pay the higher dollar fine and not one for a reduced charge!

NEVER pay a ticket. It can come back and bite you badly idf something happens down the line.

Also do not believe any cop when they say crap about the results of court or paying the ticket. 99% of the time they NEVER see the inside of a courtroom on speeding tickets or most moving violations as most people blindly think he's their friend when they "give you information." Just like truckers, a good joke or rumor/lie is fine with them!

I went to court to fight a speeding ticket one time and learned a lesson thanks to a guy in front of me who hired a lawyer. The lesson I learned was to always request discovery and ask for dismissal if anything is used that wasn't in discovery. I had done it to see what they were going to use against me, and what happened was at the start of court, the judge held up a stack of radar calibration certs and told us that he had the certs for all of our cases, so if lack of radar calibration was our defense, don't even try it. A couple of guys went first and took their lumps, the first guy with his lawyer got up and pointed out that he didn't get a copy of the radar cert in discovery, his case was dismissed. After that everyone tried it but only those of us who had requested discovery had our cases dismissed. I've seen a couple of times where judges get irritated if the prosecution makes mistakes and they dismiss the case even if there was a chance of getting a conviction. I think it's a judges way of telling the prosecution not to embarrass the court by making silly mistakes. The more you request from the prosecution leading up to the trial, the more chance they have of screwing something up. Things like requesting discovery may make the prosecution think you mean business and if there is any doubt in their case they may reduce or drop to keep from losing a case. I'm not sure, but I think they keep some kind of professional score on how many wins and losses they get and they may not want to risk their average if they think you're a fighter, or they get annoyed and lay it to you hard.

Got pulled over near Buffalo, NY by a NY state trooper for being 5 mph over the limit in a construction zone. The trooper told me he normally never pulled anyone over for that but some local politician had been complaining about speeders thru that area so they had been told to crack down a bit. After he gave me the ticket, he told me if I didn't want it to appear on my license to show up for the court date and the DA would reduce it to 2 parking tickets. Those 2 tickets cost me $125 each but compared to the alternative, I happily paid it.

The saddest part of this whole story is the lack of communication on the radio. :biggrin_25513:

Sad that more and more truckers aren't looking out for each other.

That's the silliest bunch of nonsense:biggrin_25526:

How in the hell is anyone but the yahoo who can't read responsible for getting a ticket:biggrin_25510:

Another one worried about getting caught instead of doing it right:biggrin_25516:

    Always someone elses fault huh:biggrin_25513:

Drivers can get on the radio and blow some bs and make annoying noises but can let the driver coming down the road know about the smokey sitting in the median. How hard is it to stop bsing and say MMBLANK THERE IS A BEAR IN THE CENTER?????????? IF drivers can't be courteous then why be in an industry that could really benifit from it?????:biggrin_2556:

You got all that out of one simple statement? You must be a brilliant mind reader. I don't remember blaming anybody else for the speeding ticket, its just its kinda sad to me that the radio is not used in a productive way anymore. How many troopers do you pass on the road sitting at a bottom of a hill just waiting for that heavily loaded trailer to be coming down at 70-75mph in a 65 zone and not one peep on the radio?

Perhaps in this instance had the radio been chirping a good driver who showed a lapse in judgement in speed could have corrected himself. Is it really wrong to be looking out for each other out here?
