Don't worry, I'm not leaving serafini construction. They, so far are fantastic. Why would I leave a great, family run business. Think about it this way, I can leave my boss a personal text and she will respond. So far I'm thrilled with just about everything, even though allot of guys here on the forum don't like this type of work.
These are the right people to work for, not some sleasball, no good, lying filthy pigs like any mega company including in hunt.
-Hourly wage with overtime
-Rate pay on allot of jobs
-Safety orientated
-Well maintained equipment
-Good boss that isn't a miserable hag
-Medium sized fleet and driver roster, not just a number
-They don't use dac
-home every night
- no elds or logbook otherwise
-She treats drivers with respect, no foul language especially on the company radio
Not one good reason to have any desire to work for a slimeball operation. So far these guys are great
Got my monthly jb hunt call

Some of us prefer the large "slimeball" companies. I did just fine working for them.
Worst mistake of my career was working for a small mom & pop operation. Never made that mistake again. You lucked out this time.UturnGirl, Western flyer and Dumdriver Thank this. -
There are good and bad in every size of company. I worked for another small company and it was a slimeball operation, and another smaller company ran like a world class outfit.
I would not call serafini really small either, sure they aren't a mega but they are a multi-million dollar company. 30 some trucks both dump and tractor trailer, multiple large excavators, earth movers, and front loaders, they have a large yard and sell fill material and millings.
Still ran by the serafini family, they have been around since the 1940's.
You might wonder why I like this type of work but I wonder why someone would want to sleep in a truck, deal with hos/eld/logs, dac/hire-rite, working for such a large outfit they don't even know who you are. If have a question, I can send Michelle a text and she will personally respond, or I can get on the company radio. If I have a problem with my equipment I write it up and tell the shop.... and it gets fixed immediately.
I enjoy the rides home in the camaro with the tops down and my son in the back seat loving life. I pick him up from my mom's on the way home.... every day. I get to be a large part of his life. I took him in the pool today since it's been warm enough. I enjoy sleeping in my own bed at home, showering everyday, getting full choice of what want to eat, and doing laundry at home at my leisure . The 4 months I did with Werner was pure hell for me. I want my son to know his dad.
I will say that the trucking industry is so large, there is a job for nearly everyone. There is no job in this industry that is unimportant, they all matter and make this country a functioning unit.
If Chinatown applied at a company like serafini I doubt he would be disappointed. They do exist, good modest sized companies. -
I enjoy trucking but also my home life. This job is a good fit for me. Decent respectable company and I still live a normal life

You can't deny that otr driving comes with a ton of baggage. This part of the industry is in dire need of overhaul otherwise you wouldn't have operation black and blue or the truckers bill of rights. I'm not the only person that thinks these large companies are no good.
One of the things that probably makes Serafini good is that they have been around almost 100 years. -
