Got My Nuts Busted For Having Dash Cam On

    FYI for those running cross border.

    I was crossing the Ambassador Bridge this week going through lane #1 (X-Ray). I would rather have the trailer x-rayed there, then going around back and waiting 2-3 hr's.
    Any how I pulled up to the primary both and the first thing the woman says to me is can I see the screen on your Dash Cam.
    When she see's it's recording thats when things kinda go south (no pun intended) She says
    '' I don't know when you drivers are going to get it... You cannot record an international boarder!!! Maybe when we start confiscating your FAST card you will get it!!!!

    She sends me to x-ray then tells me to park the truck and go inside (Not Customs) I can't remember what she said. But it was some place that would view the recording on the dash cam then delete the video. If this person in there felt like it. they could confiscate the dash cam.

    I get my turn in x-ray after only waiting 1hr. The guy in x-ray asks me ''Whats this about your dash cam? I told him it was recording while I was at primary. He asked me if I could delete the recording and I answered Yes. He then says OK show me. So I show him the recorded files on the dash cam then I explain I can format the video card right in the dash cam and wipe out all the files. I do this and he says '' OK I'm good with that. I'm just trying save you the hassle of going inside. I will now clear you to enter the country." Thank God he helped me out. Who knows what I would have been infor if I had to go into

    LONG STORY SHORT As Per The Border Patrol In X-Ray

    Turn off your dash cam before going over the bridge or better yet take it out of the window as it is illegal to record border crossings.

    It has been illegal to photograph or record in ANY manner, any international border connected with the US since the Patriot Act was passed in 2002. That can be extended to ICE and moving checkpoints such as down on the Rio Grande or exit points from major ports such as San Ysidro. Any INS station, any Border Patrol points such as entering California or in Murietta CA on I-15.
    Simple thing to keep yourself out of trouble is to 'hood' the device as you're entering the facility.

    Yep...............they can watch us 24/7 but if a big bad trucker has a dashcam.......ooooohhh that's a national security threat. Give me a flippin' break.

    also need to hood it or shut off the dashcam when delivering to any military base or annex.

    My company issued us hoods with ours. Stop before the border, don't take it off until your past the border. Both directions.

    i used to run winnipeg-stpaul 3 times a week for about a year, not once in that time did they ever give me any flack for it right in the middle of my dash, it seems if their feeling on a power trip that day. just like i see many mega carriers cross with out CTPAT aproved seals...but you cant bring that apple in sir!!


    although at the blue water bridge going north i had US customs ARMED TO THE TITS SKI MASKS AND ALL. were waiting for me on the OTHER side of the toll boths (going into canada) and were very intrested in me and my refer load of Baby formula...x-ray and off load and 21 questions for me (fast carded)

    so again how much of a power trip are they on that day.
