I've had several Lee's over the years, both the older version and a newer version with the Mosfets, and I couldn't tell any difference between the two, and apparently from the reports I was always getting, no one on the other end could tell any difference either...

Only reason I sold them, was I decided to just run regular CB radios like the Cobra 29 because they match-up better with the Amp's I have...Plus, I never used the other bands on the Export radios anyway, so there was no real reason to spend the extra cash on a radio that had features i would never be using...

Yeah I hear you man, I like my cobra, but wanted something different, I had bought a galaxy 949 a year or two ago and had an annoying buzzing sound coming out of it, I think your the guy that helped me with it, I had to open it up and move some wires away from each other, but every now and then the buzzing would come back, so I just unplugged the night watch (or whatever galaxy calls it) and the buzzing went away. I'll get the lee in the truck tomorrow and see if it like it and i'll post back here.
    thanks again

Yep...That's a big problem with the Galaxy's with the back-lite face...I had a 939 that was the same way, and after moving the wires around, I managed to get most of the noise out, but it was still there a little... I guess tho that problem is "Hit and Miss", because I still have a 979 with the back-lit face, and it's never had that problem.

Only way a 29 can talk is with a linear you can make them sound good but the exports will get out farther I myself like the rangers and connex the general lee is a good loud talking radio that I believe you'll be happy with btw I have two 29s tuned peaked with connex echo boards that I have as backup radios.

Don't forget to pick up a good Microphone. I personally dont know how good the general Lee mics are, but if you decide to improve the performance in your radio besides the amp, get a Ranger SRA 198 mic. Seen them or should I say I pick one up on amazon for 15.99 plus shipping. Just my .02........

Yep...I think all the General Lee's are coming stock now with a SRA 198...Several other radios are too. I have a Mirage 36HP that came from the factory with a SRA 198...Best NC Mic you can get.
