I agree, I have a 379exhd, c15 twin turbo cat, averaging 6 pulling flats. My buddy pulling boxes with his 379exhd c15 twin turbo is averaging 6.58 according to his IFTA report

    Rusty86 Thanks this.

Yeah the interior has some wear. More than a year and a couple months worth in miles. I'm guessing its either 115k on a inframe or 115k on a reman. I dont know yet.

Yeah, I believe it. It really does matter how you drive it.

I've heard opinions from all sorts of guys who drive hoods. I figure there is two ways to look at it. Run 60-62 and save fuel but possibly lose more time in you're week.
Or run 65-68 pay a bit more but you may be able to pick up an extra load at the end of the week.
Kind of a double edged sword. I've heard some guys are running 65 pretty much everywhere but with the top spoiler, front spitter, and as many aero add one as you can get. They're doing better, but that vs how much you spend to get all that stuff, who knows how long they take to pay for themselves. Especially considering you're only gaining .10-.25 mpg per each item.

True. My mpg is all over the place pump to pump. One load I pulled 1200 miles got 8.5mpg with idling. Another load I pulled 1560 miles and averaged 4.5. My last load was 7.8, the one I'm under now is getting me about 6. It's an 11' wide set of stairs

I run 65, but I'm governed. My buddy getting 6.58 runs 65-70 most of the time. He just baby's it when accelerating.

Yeah if you're hamming down all the time your obviously not going to have great numbers.
There are a lot of variables as well. Geographically is a big factor(mountains vs plains), seasonal, then there's the load. Light is always better. I don't know if the over height and width guys do any worse. I can only guess no. Less aerodynamic than a box. But with all that, if you're doing 6mpg and better and averaging 2.00$ a mile or better. Then you're making good money. If you're getting better than 3$ a mile you could hammer down everywhere drop it to 4mpg and still be above water. But your cost to maintain goes up. Like I said. Double edged haha

    If you're hitting 3$+ a mile, and are keepin it 6mog and above. Hell. That's a #### good week/month.

Well I'm a company driver but like to keep track of all expenses because I do want to buy my own truck and I want it to be a hood.

I pull a lot if un aero loads. I pulled these pipes that had two open at the front, in Kansas and North Dakota, that's where I got the 4.5 average.

But I normally get 6 or above. So it ain't too bad. It's just variable since I pull different flat trailers and have such a diverse number of loads
