Everything I have read, says become a company driver....learn the job, business, freight lanes, etc first....decide if you like the job, lifestyle, etc, then decide to do it. And one tip...NEVER from everything I have read, sign a lease (flease) agreement after working for a company for 6 months...it is part of the business plan...you end up working for free, then they "starve you out", you give back the truck, then they re-lease the truck, and bill you for a bunch of stuff, destroy your credit....
Like I have heard....work as a driver for a few years...that way you have medical benefits too!!
The Truth about trucking book/website seems to be good info.....I like it...Everything I read seems to point to its correctness+truthfulness.......
and at 21 while he has been driving for 3 years..it has not been intra state OTR...I must have been instate too...so I think some more experance...and IMO more than 6 years old...it will be hard to lease on...so you have to get a full authority...and that is more $$ and more complex...
To start..leasing on with a company like landstar is a good start...than move up to full authority, permits, etc....
Of course it is just what I have been reading....
got some questions can anyone help?
