I like electrical tape for extra strap. Holds fine and no residue. When it comes time to remove I can just grab the extra strap and yank and it'll break. No sharp tools near the strap like you need with zip ties.

I prefer a bungee, but yeah, I get the idea of a wicked sharp blade near those expensive straps. Cringe to the extreme. Don't slip!

    Chewy352 and MJ1657 Thank this.

I have reusable zip ties that I got from Cluck. They work good.

I use duct tape on my 3" ratchet straps. No problems with residue. I usually leave a big enough loop that I can tear it off by just pulling on the bundled strap.

For the 2" straps I fold the excess and run it through the tail on the ratchet handle end.

    Oxbow Thanks this.

Never understood using duct tape on strap tags. You can get a good 5 years out of a tarp strap if that's all you're using them for.
