Thanks for clarifying.

I'm not riding down the road doing 62-65 to try to save fuel. I'm driving 75 to get to the customer with plenty of time ahead.
I drive my 2002 Freightliner FLD Cummins N-14 500hp no governor it does over 85 still averages 6.25mpg pulling containers over 45k....realsupatrucka Thanks this. -

57 mph running the west coast. I like cash more then blowing it out the stacks.

Obviously you cannot compare two different trucks. For the same truck with the same load on the same route on the same day with the same wind etc etc, that truck will get better fuel mileage at a slower speed due to less wind resistance (within reason...say 55 mph) as long as the RPM's are where the engine wants them to be AND THAT IS ACCOMPLISHED WITH GEARING NOT THE RIGHT FOOT........ PERIOD. -
mattbnr and Rooster1291979 Thank this.

Another thread where everyone is concerned with what everyone else is doing with THEIR truck...
-
The ones that drive like maniacs first start out by saying they get better fuel mileage going faster and then they change their story to making more money and then it gets them home to their family and then it saves their sanity. Whatever someone needs to tell themselves to justify it is fine with me. It ain't my money but remember this:
When you wreck because you're driving like an idiot, it ain't the other trucks fault that you couldn't get your 45,000 lb sea cans stopped. Tell that to your families.
