I use to drive like a "idiot" to, then I grew up, paid more attention the last 6 years where my money was going. Slowing down and better driving habits have made me much more per mile take home, in my pocket. Loads have a set time, if I get there 2 hours early, or 2 min, they still unload me at the same time, and I still got paid the same, but with more fuel money in my pocket to keep, and less stress on me and my truck.

Bottom line, you drive over 65, you will burn more fuel then if you drive under 60, it's just a fact. I know a lot a guys on here have trucks that deify the laws of physics, I use to tell the same lie to everyone to, until fuel became close $5 per gallon, that's cool, i'am not trying to change their minds, I care about my money. Drive as fast as you want, if that's what you like, go for it, I stopped worry about other truck owners years ago.

But for the new O/O or lease operators, fastest way to make more money, is slow down, learn how to drive you truck like there's an egg under the pedal.

I just give my advice, take it or leave it, drive 85 or drive 55 I could care less, just be safe with what ever you do.

Yep. We have three trucks here. On a typical 500 mile round trip I will use $75 less fuel than them. Every trip. We all arrive home withing a hour of one another.

I have seen two truck accidents in my life. Both were in the left lane following too close and attempting to drive way faster than everyone else....actually the roads were snow covered both times too. I'm sure it was another driver's fault. Actually they both should thank me because I was going slow enough I could get stopped instead of running into their jack knifing and ditch running arses. Because of me, they were only single vehicle accidents.

Once I was driving like an idiot. Following an idiot door slammer too close....it didn't seem too close...I mean if he can stop I can stop right? So anyway, I was late for my PU (probably because of all those slow idiots ahead of me all day) and we were flying up I-87 near Poughkeepsie, NY when all of a sudden he changes lanes and I am now less than 200 ft behind a box truck that's doing 40 mph. By my math I was closing on that box truck at ~110 feet per second. I locked them up and didn't kill him but I cursed that idiot door slammer for not getting out of my way sooner and that idiot box truck driver that was driving 35 mph slower than me. It was all their fault.

It's not if something happens but when and when it happens I don't want to be doin' 75.

I changed my habits when I met an old hand in Montana years ago, me and another guy where bragging about how fast we drive, the he chimes in and says,"You know, I use to drive like a Jacka@@ to" got our attention, it was funny.

Soo because I do the speed limit and not 10 miles under it ima idiot? Lol nooo way...if I do 80 in a 50 okay I could see your point of view. ..but 75 in a 75 is legal ...it only becomes a problem when slow drivers are in the hammer lane

I meant it's the limit. The top end limit. No lower limit unless posted.
