Is the money worth cutting it down to 65?

Driver is the largest factor in determining fuel mileage. How you set up the rears and trans, high rubber or low pro is your speed factor. Every truck runs different as well, I am not a believer in governing trucks for o/o purposes. But when you have employees it is a must. Drivers that don't pay for fuel or tires or brakes push the truck all the time and companies need to protect themselves against drivers. Plus if there's a major accident the company has the defense of their tractor not speeding as a contributing factor. How fast I drive is determined by temperature outside, weight and windy or not. If the conditions are right, my best fuel mpg is at 74 mph 1350 rpm.

Not worth cutting down to 65 mph for any o/o. Anyone who says it's worth it to cut down to 65, has had the truck cut down on someone else's authority not their decision.

That's false. There are many o/o out there that run slower to save fuel which results in them being able to take more time off since they don't have to run as hard to make the same profit. More fuel savings in each load = more money in your pocket

Driving slower by your own volition and driving slower by someone else's behest really aren't one in the same, though. If I'm paying for a truck and managing my own business, I feel it should be my option to run as I see fit. If I choose to go 62, then that's what I'll do... and if I gotta kick it up a notch or two for whatever reason, I should be able to. My truck, my business, my risk and reward.. if someone gets into that situation and is unaware that there's enough rope to hang themselves with there, then that's their problem.

It's mostly about the truck's settings. When I had my governor max'd out I received better mpg, I guess because lower rpm's for basically the same speed. And I think 62-65 is a safety issue, everyone can't drive a truck safely over 65.

Then they don't need to be driving....it causes to much pile up and confusion if the speed limit 75 amd all you doing is 62...since when is it safer to go 10 miles under the speed limit and impeed traffic then to keep a SAFE following distance and go with the flow of traffic

    EZX1100 and x#1 Thank this.
