I have no issues at all with however fast or slow anyone wants to run. What really chaps me is the turtle race nonsense that goes on. You get two almost equal speed trucks spending 15 miles side by side. The passing truck didn't have enough sense to just drop the cruise a notch and deal with it, or the passed truck doesn't have the courtesy to drop a couple of mph and let the other one get around. I can usually see far enough ahead to avoid running up the rear of a slower truck, and pace myself for a spot in the passing lane and then go on around. I don't just leave the cruise on or the pedal against the firewall till the last minute when I have to brake because I couldn't get a spot to pass.

Seems simple intelligence is lacking. One can't avoid all situations where they have to slow down for a slower truck, but if they get off the phone, quit daydreaming about someplace else, and pay attention to the world around them. And this "by God, I ain't slowing down to let the other company truck get around" stuff really show a person for what they are.

My favorite thing is I'll come up on a slow o/o and go to pass him, then he sees I'm a company guy and will speed up and not let me pass and I'll have a string of cars behind me and I can't slow down cause he has traffic behind him too.

Been there. But, it's not just o/os, it's other company trucks, same company trucks, four wheelers, motorcycles, campers, uhauls, what have you.

I know who my speed 'rivals' are and if I catch up to one, I back out of it. Likewise, if I'm being passed, again, I back out of it. It's not that big a deal to me. I still get to where I'm going.

If your best fuel mileage is at 74 mph then you could get better mileage with a steeper rear gear. I bet if you geared to run 1350 at 60 you would get better mileage.

If I bought my own truck id set it up to run 65. That would be my cruise control speed.

That governor is only to prevent company drivers from speeding on 65mph highways. My first truck could do 68 and I would arrive a day eariler when going across half of the US and still got 7 mpg.

The laws of physics prove it is true. The faster you travel the more energy it takes to push air our of the way. Aerodynamics help this, but nothing eliminates it.

The slower you drive the longer it takes to get there....if im averaging 5 mph faster then you everyday im 50 miles ahead of u everyday. ...so the only reason u savings more fuel because u driving lesser miles
