Your point of using new "gadgets" I understand.
The problem with new gadgets. Some of the drivers forget how to or haven't been taught the ability to read signs.
Because no matter what the gadgets tell you to do. The signage trump's all.

    Good luck.

True...but those drivers still have vcr's at home with the clocks flashing because they never figured out how to set it....
Hence, those drivers would not be able to turn on a gps.

Reporting via text is much quicker...
I have made 2 reports and both times they fixed the issues that day.

I have had those too. but the one yesterday, no restriction, no signs, nothing stopping me from make the plain left turn, as was everyone else. Plus if i had gone round the block, the streets and the turns it wanted me to do were SMALL. So i can't figure out why it wanted me to do what it was saying, but it was wrong.

I fixed the vcr problem with electric tape.
My GPS comes on when I start truck.
I use my GPS to find a general route and to keep track of my fuel.
My route planning consists of calling shipper and receiver for local directions and hours, than I stop when I need fuel. So simple really anyone can do it.

I got by with just plain Google Maps. Obviously, I checked against my directions or even my Atlas.

It really helped with the final approach or seeing stores on Satellite to see the best way in or what space they might have if the allow parking.

The purpose for this thread is to let those who are looking for an alternative to the expensive gps units know there are options.

    Agreed with Tow
we are not here to debate whether or not GPS is better than looking out the window. the thread is here for those that DO WANT to with a GPS and to give suggestions, advice and help where we can. both of us have used RM and now use Smart Truck. I have also used CoPilot in the past. So between the 2 of us we can make some good suggestions and also help with setup and issues on Smart Truck.
If this is not what you want than please, go elsewhere.

    Wombat63 and tow614 Thank this.
