Google maps has it's uses but it will use quite a bit of data if you are using it all day every day. Plus if you do not have a cell/data signal it is worthless. The advantage to CoPilot or other similar app is the maps are all stored on the device and run in a standalone mode, all they need is a GPS signal, no cell or data signal required. There are still many areas of the country without cell service.

You are dead set on a phone app for truck specific GPS rioting then co pilot truck is the one you want, I believe it's still $150 but it's a one time fee and you get 1 year of traffic service with it. $10 each year after. If you update your phone each year like I do, you never have to pay for traffic again because the traffic license is phone specific. There are several Co pilot apps on the Google play store. Here is the one you want. Screenshot_20170130-103720.png

Google maps uses no data if you know how to use it correctly.
Downloading the maps while connected to wifi will prevent you from being stuck without maps due to lack of data coverage.

some of us are too busy driving and doing our job to search out free (slow) wifi to download the next 1500 miles worth of maps.

I use Co pilot on every route and have done so since the start of this year. Other than the original map download, which you can download specific regions or the entire North America map at 2.5gb. Co pilot had only used 53Mb of data and most of that is from the traffic updates and Google searching shippers and receivers.

CoPilot has a monthly plan and that one has 14 day free trail with traffic Info. $10 a month. Then you can buy the app also for $140 or something and have it life time I guess. I been using CoPilot for the truck routing since you can download the maps and never use phone data. Then I use Google maps to see satellite views and as backup to CoPilot
