I liked my rand better for finding truck stops and what not, and the Garmin is hesitant on routing that I know to be legal at times, but my Garmin is more reliable. My Rand would quit working when I needed it most.

Do you have Freeways set to Allow or Prefer?
Ah,,, so sitting the truck has been motionless for 10 hours. As with ANY GPS it needs Lat/Long movement to determine your route of travel. Since you have not moved in 10 hours, it the GPS has no idea of your route of movement. It will normally pick up the route on the closest paved road. Truck Stops are POI's and the exits are not determined in the Map Database for trucks.
If you know where the fuel islands are, that normally will be closest to the exit for trucks. Head in that direction slowly and let the Movement of the Lat/Long per distance determine your route of travel.
It is not the RM's GPS issue. It is a lack of determination of Lat/Long Movement to determine route.
Docking is will not resolve the issues. Now if you have issues, then we can force the Dock to download the Maps again. PLEASE note - since this is a TND-730 if you have an SD Card in the external slot, please remove it. It is not needed, nor will the TND 730 know it is there.
Freeways = Allow, 53'/102" trailer.,,, AZ-93 no issue since about 2-3 years ago.

Used both Garmin and RM. The only time I've seen problems with either one is when the owner doesn't keep up with his updates. Try using a non-updated Garmin on the 275 loop in Tampa; that unit is virtually useless. You'll find yourself running on nonexistent roads and levitating above intersections and exits. As the company techie I keep telling the boss about this but he wants just leave things alone. I may just come out-of-pocket for an upgrade myself.

I don't know if that has been fixed, but updating the maps will give you the same maps that the 740 has.Midnightrider909 Thanks this. -

Copilot has the same problem when leaving parking lots. A lot of times you have no idea which way to go untill you've made the wrong turn and motion kicks in.
Google is defenitly superior in that aspect. HOWEVER, it does rely on internet. Which isn't always available.
My biggest gripe. Is the whole STAA thing. If those are the only roads a gps will use. It's really not a valuable tool. Not every road in America has a designation of 1 or the other. And as a flatbedder who often goes to the sticks and fields. We need EVERY road in America for guidance. Not using the road because of restrictions is one thing. Not using the road because it's not STAA. Is BS.
I"m glad i had what i had. STAA wasn't a consideration for it's operation.tech10171968 Thanks this. -
