GPS question

Down that far you have to take your eyes off the road to see it. Dangerous.

 

Nah. Its higher up than the speedometer.

Its got digital speed indicator too which is much better than analog.

I wasn't sitting in seat when taken.

Top of GPS and Qualcomm are about .25 below top of dash from my view looking out.

If I had a GPS, this is how it would be mounted. I'm not saying anyone is wrong, as its not really my business, but in this case, I just had to wonder how safe it could be. I think, in my opinion, it looked very busy in his truck. I have a one track mind, I cannot multitask to save my tail, so for me that would not work lol.

 

Some carriers provide "map routing" via their Qualcomm unit and this may have been why you say mounted to the right of the driver. I would not want a GPS that moved everytime the steering wheel turned slightly (if I'm understanding what the OP is referring to)

I run a 7 inch Garmin in a T-700 and mounted it in the very top, far left corner of the windshield. As big as the truck is, it's really not a distraction, is easily viewable and accessible, and at night the screen brightness in night mode is not a bother.

 

when i was in a t660. i had a 10 inch tablet with copilot mounted to the trim on top. using wire ties.

now, i'm using a samsung galaxy note 2 UNactivated phone. with copilot. sitting in the cubby hole right below the heater controls. on a FL.

who says you need internet to make gps work!!!!

i also have a brightness app. that allows me to dim the screen at night. i can't stand a lit up cab.

 

Snowwy..I see that you have posted some about copilot...do you run the "copilot truck us & can", the one made for truck or do you run the one for autos?

 

Why would a truck driver ever run a gps made for autos? That's just asking for problems and that's how you end up on Facebook with the caption "dumb driver followed his GPS right into this 11' bridge."

 

Why would they have one? It is still helpful for mileage and distances to exits/turns..that is all I am using now along with an atlas..it is another thing to just punch in your address and just drive...that wouldnt be a smart thing to do with a GPS for truck either...I agree an idiot would be no good with a non truck gps..I would hope you would still pay attention to signs and everything with a truck GPS..but I was just asking the other guy because I see he has posted a lot about copilot and it sounded like he just had the auto. I am interested in purchasing the truck version.
