That sounds like a software issue. Unless you’ve physically broken the usb port or something.

Some phone repair places fix GPS units. Search on YouTube for your GPS model and problem. I fixed my Rand McNally GPS buy buying a $30 set of mini-screwdrivers and a $30 battery replacement.

This is the model rand Mc Nally TND 720 bought this nearly 10 years Ago it just won’t let me update so I’m guessing it’s a software issue

They dropped support for that model.

"Lifetime map updates" doesn't mean what you'd think it means.

    More than likely not.

"Lifetime Maps", within the small print, means the lifetime of the gps unit, which most mfgs consider to be ....... 3 years.

    From Rand McNally >

Additionally, Rand McNally will not make updates available for any product that Rand McNally, in its discretion, has designated “end of life,” which designation may occur at any time after the 36-month anniversary of the launch of the applicable product model.
