COPILOT is the only trucker gps program for your phone. donm't know on the cost these days. and you can also buy pcmiler from amazon for $119. SAME SOFTWARE.
i've had absolutely ZERO problems with my pcmiler. io ordered a spare. for when the first one eventually dies.
bad thing about the cell phone. is they DO get hot. which is actually the battery getting burned up. but when i first came back out on the road. copilot on my phone is what i initially started with. till i bought the pcmiler 3 months later. actually bought the rand first. and traded it in 2 weeks later for the pcmiler.
pcmiler doesn't have the bells and whistles as more expensive truck gps units. but there's an app for that on your phone. FOR FREE. so why pay the money for an expensive truck gps?
GPS: stand alone or on iPhone?

Copilot is not the only choice for truck routing on ios. Navigon will route for trucks and it is pretty good. I have compared it to my rand McNally while on trips and they pretty much always agree. The only problem I have is finding things on the road. Next scale, truck stop etc... Rand is better for those reasons.

i have navigon. it doesn't do anything for me on trucks. and it's not truck designed.
i also have apps for everything trucking related. they tell me where teh scales are, truckstops, walmarts, rest areas, pretty much everything a rand can do. FOR FREE.DoneYourWay Thanks this. -
You can also head over to http://poi-factory.com and download POI's for all the truck stops, including the smaller Mom and Pop ones, and load them to your GPS. They also have one for CAT scales, and all files are updated regularly.

I use my laptop, Streets & Trips with the Truck Stops Plus Add-On Template and Google Earth to do all my routing and navigation. It works great for me. I simply configure my company's truck routing in Streets & Trips, then Google Earth to look up my shippers and receivers, where I then place a pushpin in the driver entranceways of my shippers and receivers, then copy the GPS coordinates of that pushpin from its properties into Streets & Trips. That way Streets & Trips provides me turn-by-turn navigation directly into my shippers and receivers. It all works beautifully.

Are there any new reviews on the ios apps? I'm considering Copilot for my iPad but the reviews don't look too hot :-/
-
the reviews are great for android. LOL.
i'm thinking of trying out that program being sold on the truckers tablet thread though. i think i found it can be bought for $60. -
Hmmmm. Might be a good excuse to buy an android tablet

I wouldn't use your iPhone as your only GPS, or only navigational aid at all.
Here is what I recommend:
a good TRUCK GPS. I have a Rand McNally, here's a link to one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...N=B00C7FKT2A&linkCode=as2&tag=lifofamodtru-20
a good CURRENT road atlas: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/05...N=0528009184&linkCode=as2&tag=lifofamodtru-20
AND a decent truck stop guide: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/18...N=1890141437&linkCode=as2&tag=lifofamodtru-20
Having to much information isn't a bad thing. Having to little is a headache!DoneYourWay Thanks this.
