My phone at that time wasn't that smart.

with the rand you HAVE to check your route. cuz that thing has no clue how to route you through prescott arizona. and everywhere else it takes you an extra 10 miles through your destination town.
2 weeks and NOTHING but complaints was my venture with the thing.
i use pcmiler. and have NEVER checked my route. once i got the feel for it 2 weeks after buying. -

the reviews on rand are a toss up.
some people swear by it. most however do not.
we've got 3 drivers in our company that use it. and they all complain becuase i beat them there. with less miles driven to get there.
there's only ONE pcmiler. might be different model numbers. but they're all generally 4.3 in screens. it's a pretty basic gps for trucks. nothing fancy. but it gets the job done in a pretty efficient manner. as for all the bells and whistles the more expensive gps's have. there's an app for that. on your phone. for free.
you can buy em on amazon for $120. you can also download the copilot software onto your phone. same gps company. same software. -

Rand Mcnally is amazing. I don't know how truckers got by before them. I started trucking a year ago and this thing has helped me out so much. When I would get lost it would find me and direct me back. I know where the scales are on the map and also the cat scales so i don't get a ticket. I would always double check the map for scales just in case. No Gps is perfect but they do save a lot of time. IF you go over the speed limit 5 mph on the rand mcnally warns you. Being new driver I was finding myself drifting off in thought and I'd be going 15 over. but the rand mcnally stopped all of that. It even tells me when the speed is changing up ahead so I can downshift. What a great tool. Not only for the old guys but new drivers too!!!! I have never tried the Garmin truck gps's but I'm sure they are as good as the rand mcnally just a different taste. As for the PC millers and Cobras I don't want to waste money on something cheap i'm not going to like or that doesn't work well. I'd rather pay top dollar for Rand Mcnally or Garmin, something that's going to work as close to perfect as possible.
