I only have a couple x-TMC drivers. There aren't a lot of flatbed outfits that train new drivers. They seem to do a good job, and expose drivers to a lot.

I had the opportunity to speak to one of the drivers(he has been with TMC since 07') as I am looking at TMC as well. Here is what he had to say:

They do hire newbies, but only the top 1 or 2 from each class

Their FM's are programmed to get you home the 46 out of 52 weekends each year, and if you are willing to run longer you will need to push for it to a degree. If you are willing to run longer, you will not have to work as hard i.e. loading, unloading, securing, unsecuring etc.

The trainers(5 weeks for newbies) can take advantage of the fact that they now have an extra log book to run on. Also the newbie will be doing all of the work(your in training remember). My guess is that happens in every company though...

Which trainer you get will depend on two things: if you smoke and where you live.

The trucks are governed down to 62 mph.

The training is great, possibly the best in the flatbed business.

The corporate office runs on an open door policy.

    Hopefully this helps.

Can someone tell me what TMC's operating area is and how long is their typical "weekend" that they say they get you home for?

they say if you live in a city within the yelloww its very doable
they say only home 2 weekends during 6 weeks or is it 7 weeks of training
and they are not sure which weeksends you can get home, in other words you may not be able to scchedule a specific weekend during training.
I am very much interested in them, if they can wait for me to statrt for a month or so, it could be an issue, but I have commitments I must meet.
