Your truck is nicer than your dads lol.
IMO that is the only Freightshaker worth owning. -
Just out of curiosity, what was all involved in installing the extra lights in the back wall of the sleeper?
-
Thanks! Yeah I decided it was what I wanted to do because I have been around trucks my whole life. I always say I think it is just in my blood, it wouldn't feel right if I wasn't in a truck! Haha
Thanks! My thoughts exactly! I mean I do love Peterbilts too, but a Freightliner is just so much more practical for me right now. I like the interior in this thing a whole lot more than most 379 interiors! Haha
Appreciate it!
I don't know if I would say it is nicer, his truck is dirty in that picture! He has a lot nicer interior than mine also.
If I wouldn't have found this Classic forsale I am sure I would have been in an FLD120. For some reason I would love to customize one of them, just because it would be completely different!
I drew up the back of the cab. Figured out where the lights that are already are on there were located. Drew up a bunch of different configurations to see what I liked best.
Before cutting any holes I took the whole back wall of the interior apart.
Did a lot of measuring before cutting the holes. Just used a 4-1/2" Hole saw and cut out all of the holes.
(Don't worry the holes are in the correct spot, whoever put the DOT tape on it must not have cared.)
BoostedTeg, AModelCat and Maurice_1221 Thank this. -
Hm. It is not often I celebrate young people doing things right.
You Sir I think is well on your way to something that will be awesome future. I see your grain trailer in the shop with the lights picture to indicate what you might be involved in as far as hauling. There will always be a need for those grain trailers. People have to eat.
The sleeper is a bit small... again, you can always send it to a shop and have a bigger sleeper put on. No problem. Just a bunch of money when you are ready. You might want to spend a few thousand for a Generac Gennie Because feeding that big kitty to turn your heat or air in the sleeper is pricey. It's what? 2 gallons an hour over night at high idle? Hotels are cheaper.
The 5th wheel looks good. You might want to put more grease on it and keep greasing it. Don't let it rust without grease on it.
I see you made a new fender add on to the drives and flaps on the back, I like it. Maybe out a little more money to get your factory pipes into something a little bit bigger so that your Cat can literally breathe when you add power and not have to suffer a set of constipated tiny factory pipes. Nothing outrageous. Just a inch or two larger diameter for each pipe is plenty.
You got horn covers on there nicely. I see your front wheels do not have a dust cover over your hub bearing seals (The red rubber seal on the dead center) you might want to put a couple of dust caps on there in chrome. Maybe black chrome? Everyone has chrome wheels in the front but I think a set of black chome covers on your center bearing seals will go well with the black fender cover over your drives.
You want to put a catwalk back there so you have a safe place to work behind the sleeper. I know that you seem to haul hopper trailers and think you have a few inches extra room there where you can add a headache rack if you put something strong on there bolted to your two frame rails you might open up other hauling oppertunities such as flat bedding.
That's about it really. Other than the items I listed on there for you to think about I think you have a pretty good rig there and a life time of oppertunity to go with that rig.
Not too many people outside of the Marines or Miltiary at 19 get a chance at a good future the way you are.
Lucky. =) -
Awesome, semiguy. Really awesome.
