greatwide ripoff!

I don't like this company and I don't defend them on most cases.. But if you are an owner op.. You have tags insurance (which they hold out 2 times on the first check) escrow workmans comp and FUEL. So 2012 isn't that much of a gross. I mean I grossed 2500 this week but will only bring in about 1400.

 

Not being a dick but are you new to being and owner operator? I know you said you just bought a truck but was it your first? If so this site is a great resource to use.. If you don't get something ask us, alot of us have been doing this for years.. I have driven for 15 years and been around o/o (family) my entire life.

 

yes i am new at being an owner operator.. I dont intend to come off like i know everything but this company sucks.. i want to work .. not sit around an wait for them to call .. last week 11 loads ..On load since sunday..

 

I understand that feeling.. One week lots of work then nothing. Remember as an O/O every time you change jobs it cost you about $3000.. For tags getting insurance time down not getting paid. Sure you get a prorated amount of your tags back, but it still hurts a lot.. And yes this company sucks. Right now it is bad everywhere but these folks want to take ownership of your equipment.

 

so let me tell you what happened today at greatwide.. i picked up my expecting it to be the most yet an it was.. but they took an extra 200 out plus a 25 processing fee for my tags.. thats not to mention the 100 they have taken out for the last 6 weeks. cant get a straight answer out of them ... i cannot get over how they can take money so freely out of your check.. i am supposed to be my own boss but they tell me what loads i can take an if they dont need i sit.. i made a total off 2760 for 11 loads an brought home 1400.. i can live with that , but it should of been 1625.. taking my truck in for a oil change,, is there anything else i should have them look at

 

Are u asking what items they should look at your truck? Are u really an owner op or a wannabe! It seems that maybe you would be the problem. I mean you can't even figure out what they need to look at on your truck,what makes anybody think you can manage a small business!

 

You do realize that the 25 processing fee.. Is in your contract.... and tags have to be paid.... What can you not get a straight answer out of them on? Yes you are suppose to be your own boss... Those days are long gone as an independent contractor.. You are just an under paid company driver now.. Good luck here.. make sure you tell them to check ALL the gear boxes and and grease the throw out bearing... their mechanics are notorious for skipping hard to get to places.

 

i realize that but they took that out last week so thats still an issue to me.. looking to get out of here.. they are bringing in guys cause they say they are short drivers yet i an others are not working enough

 

Greatwide also owns Dallas Mavis and Cheetah along with ATF.

 

Greatwide is a cheap company,if they help an O/O out with a breakdown problem they will take every cent you make until it's paid back.If you purchase tires through their national account,it cost more than if you just paid yourself.They only treat the Greatwide Dedicated O/O like they own your truck.They don't do that to the flat/stepdeck div.Not saying that it's any better on that side,you have to put up with all of the lying brokers.
