Well its been three years since I came here asking about roehl and ultimately attended RDTC and stayed with them 6 months and bailed.

Fast forward to now. Im working for a owner opp on 1099 .15 cpm on team truck. Thats dedicated central fl to cali im home wed-fri. 725 take home a week.

Overall im not happy, the home time is nice and I have the option to train for 1200 week salary. Gone 6 weeks home 1.

I know a few people that would take this due to home time, but I feel I could have something better.would be fine with ul to 4 weeks out and 1200 plus a week take home solo. But havnt found that yet. Even considered a l/p with ATS. Ultimately what I wanted to do is heavy haul or boats.

Sorry for jumbled post between being on phone and on about 30 hours no sleep Between breakdown drive time and now trying to sleep in bouncing truck im cloudy as all get out.

I reckon I'm just looking for the opions on what others would do.

Rinaudo Enterprise in Jacksonville is heavy haul & will probably hire you. They recently hired a new CDL school grad.

Boat hauling is good trucking; hauled for Pro-Craft for awhile, 48 states & Canada. They outsourced it to some company and then couldn't make good money. Those booklets in the truckstops show some big boat hauler companies in Florida hauling yachts. Some people truck their yacht from one coast to another to keep from going through the Panama Canal.

Tanker is even better; Indian River or Comcar, plenty of others. I did real well financially doing tanker/hazmat 48 states & Canada.

Another good tanker company is Florida Rock & Tank.

Hauling yachts can be big time fun. I did this in 1980 for a year. Yes, yacht owners will haul to avoid having to hire a crew to take it through the canal.

Nothing beats the memory of hiring locals in a small west Texas town to help lift power lines and traffic lights over the top of the 18' 9" load to get through town (two stop lights), then shutting down for the night at a small cafe on the far side of town. The yacht was bigger than the cafe. The owner was riding in one of the pilot cars and decided to open the wet bar on the yacht. We partied with the locals on the deck, watching the sun set over the cactus.

You're really hurting yourself when you create a job history of "job hopping" from one employer to another. To private fleets (local hourly pay with overtime after 8 hours) who require 5 years of verifiable driving experience and a clean MV record, a job hopping history means you're confused and don't have a clear goal in life. So they hire you, spend time and $$ to train you in their unique operation, pairing you with a driver trainer for 2 or 3 days, then you quit a year later.

If you were a private fleet manager, where most of your drivers stay for the rest of their trucking career (because they earn over $1,000 a week NET after taxes) would you hire a driver with a job hopping history?
