    Hey,
I'm new to the forums and new to trucking. Next week I start orientation with Schneider.

At 40 yrs old, recently divorced, recently laid off and probably in a mid-life crisis of sorts...I figured what the hell, this is a perfect time to start a new life as a trucker. I WAS a career saleman, but after 20 yrs with little success I've come the conclusion that I'm not very good at it.

Over the years I've often thought about starting a career as a professional driver. I love to travel and drive. Family commitments and whatnots made such a move impractical...till now. So I maxed out a credit card and spent the last month in CDL school getting all the endorsements I could get my hands on.

I got two kids ( ages 6 and 12) that I'm very close too. It will be hard to be away from them, but I figure can bust my butt for a year or two, pay off bills and then work my way into something more local. Schneider will have me on a 3 weeks out and 1 week home schedule driving the Western 11 states to start. I'll at least get a few solid days a month of good quality time with me youngins. I figure too, I can take the older one with me during the summer months, though that will make his sister jealous as hell....hmmm.

Soooo...That's about it. Glad to be here. Lots of great trucking wisdom to be had in these here forums. I look forward to just hanging out and learning as much as I can, maybe get to know a few folks a bit.
