Hello from southwestern Ontario! After 15yrs service in the Army and another 12yrs as a Millwright, I am now committed to a career change in the trucking industry and have booked a spot with an accredited school on their next AZ course, beginning on 24 Aug. I am aware (more so every day) that I am getting into the industry at a bad time and realise that I will not become a millionaire as a driver, but this is something I've always wanted to do.. and I'm not getting any younger. And I'll admit it, I've thought about trucking ever since "White Line Fever" came out in '75 back when I was an impressionable young teen.

As a skilled trade worker, I've seen the manufacturing industry disappear in leaps and bounds here in Ontario over the last 12 years and, after being laid off last month for the second time in two years, I have decided there's not much point in continuing to work as a Millwright if there's no industry to support. I was working at an ice cream manufacturing facility and due to a lousy, wet and cool spring and summer was hit in a round of layoffs as the company restructured. I figured if an ice cream manufacturer isn't safe from a economic turn, nobody is and I'd better find something else to do for a living.

    So here I am.

Thanks for the welcome. I've read the rules (had to pack a lunch 'cause it took a long time to get through it all) and I promise to behave. :biggrin_25520:
