I think the Greyhound driver's have a more hazardous job then us truck driver's....

I never once had to worry about my cargo attacking me from behind!

I'd much rather have a coil come sliding into my headache rack instead of a crack head slitting my neck.... That actually happened with a GH driver a few years ago.... Oklahoma I think....

That is why they now have the shield and no one is allowed to sit behind the driver.

It didnt work out for me at central refrigerated, I failed the backing part on the upgrade test and they let me go, so now I am in the process of becoming a greyhound driver. I will be out of philly. This year they do the application and self study online. I scored pretty high on the master test. And im going to school in atlantic city. The pay starts out at 17hr and goes up to 23 hr and u get a raise every 6 months and you are union and it is pretty tuff for you to get fired. The Philly terminal is the 3rd busiest, so that means i can work non stop all year and make as much money as i want. I think I will like this better than going OTR. Oh and another thing the women love a man in a greyhound uniform, that was one of the first things they told me(make sure you come home to your wife). And your whole immediate family can ride the greyhound for free. For me that is really good because I live near Philly, NY, Baltimore, DC. I'll post again when I go to school

Your still required to keep a log book & not violate HOS rules.... So, No you can't work as much as you want to.

:biggrin_25523::biggrin_25523::biggrin_25523: When I first driving truck.... The recruiter told me that I'd get 6000 miles a week running solo paid at $4.72 per mile. Plus all the free lot lizards that I desired!

Rule #1) A recruiter is a recruiter. They will lie & tell you what ever you want to hear just to get you in the door. Women love Greyhound driver's just as much as they love then men who scrub the toilets at the flying J.

Even with a free ticket.... I wouldn't put myself or my family on a Greyhound.

I was on a Greyhound bus the other day....the thing was a rolling looney bin...

Talked to the driver and he told me sories about life on the road a Bus driver...

He had to stop the bus twice on account of some dude kept flipping out and fighting all

    the ghost in his head...

He had one passenger go nuts and jump out at 70 mph on I90....they never found him..he must have hit the ground running !

They also have one of the tighest schedules I have ever seen

The bus he was driving was very fast....also I think he mentioned they only run 10 hrs a day

yeah, i'd say so. you have to deal with the same kind of filth we do. hell, you even, at any given point, have a trucker or two on your bus. they're either pleasant or straight up dirty, foul, and all of that crap. your mobile restroom is just as nasty as truck stop restrooms. i'll say this though, it's HARD AS HELL to aim when the bus in motion, on a bumpy freeway.
