Lord knows everybody in the industry, (Drivers), need a pay raise, a big one! Personally, I think an OTR driver should make, minimum bring home, EVERY week, $1000-$1200. I know some on here do, or claim they do, but there are a whole lot more that aren't even close to that. I don't know how you guys do it and put up with what you do on a daily basis. A lot of drivers are they're own worst enemy but there are a lot more good ones.....IMHO.:D

Good thread. What's your hourly rate and pay for loading and unloading? Do they have the dash cams looking at you?

We get $18 for picking up and $18 delivering. After 2 hours of either loading or unloading, hourly delay pay for me is $17.81 per hour right now. When I hit top pay it will go to $18.18 per hour.

No cameras in the truck looking at the driver. Just the ones mounted on the dash facing out. They constantly run in a loop but nothing is saved unless there is something to activate it like a hard brake event or roll stability alarm.

I have not heard any talk of cameras going in that face the driver. When I was at orientation they talked about all the stuff being put on the new trucks but no mention of driver facing cameras.

Their always looking for drivers. I don't know if that is a good thing or a bad thing.

I do know they lost about half their drivers in Winder last summer. Something went down with the tm and a bunch of the drivers left because of it and also some of them weren't too fond of all the safety stuff being put on the trucks.

There are only 8 of us at Winder right now. They are trying to get up to 15 drivers. They are also looking for a couple drivers in the Columbus GA area. Groendyke picked up some steady work out of there so the need a few drivers down there. Runs are good too. No touch loading/unloading.

First of all no one yells at you. If you are having continuous things pop up on their radar you will be having a conversation with safety. This is probably normal at any decenct company with a good safety score.

Second, I don't see any excuse for hard braking incidents. If you are keeping a safe following distance and paying attention to traffic and stop lights, you should almost never have one. Pulling tanks, you will only hard brake once or twice before you get the message from the moving liquid, lol.

Does it happen from time to time? Yes. Mine was because I decided to stop at a light that turned yellow quickly and I knew it would be red by the time I got to the intersection. I was empty so I knew I could get stopped without skidding. I was actually shocked when the hard brake incident popped up on my screen. It didn't seem like I stopped that quickly but apparently the computer thought so.

The speed thing though is kind of silly. I will agree with you there. Unless it is excessive.

I have begun to see ads on CL about these spots. I have been interested in Groendyke but not real fond of having to drive my POV to the closest terminal (Winder or Port Allen). Columbus, Ga would be MUCH closer. Does that operation allow you to leave your truck there when on home time or do you still have to go to Winder and take your POV home from there?

I can't give you a 100% sure answer on that but I do know they are wanting to find drivers that live in and around the Columbus area so that would lead me to believe you would keep your truck parked down there at the tank wash. They have a fenced in area. Best thing to do is call the Winder terminal and speak with the om. If you don't have the number I can pm it to you and the guys name.

No need for the terminal manager's number. I have called them in the past.
