I'll second what QualityMike says. No pay until you have been sitting for 24 hours is a great reason not to apply to work for them. But they'll keep finding schmucks to fill their seats. NO PAY FOR THE FIRST 24 HOURS YOU HAVE BEEN SITTING WAITING!!!! WOW! And they keep getting away with that?!?! Unbelievable!

24 hours huh. Sounds like a Schneider policy. 24 hours would be over $160 at Superior. That's probably most of the difference. Those 18-20 hour breaks would be paying $60-$100 extra for each one.
Adrienna Brown and rubberducky68 Thank this. -
Well if your looking into leaving and your in Jefferson. Upsf was looking for drivers. And Gooch trucking companyrubberducky68 Thanks this.

Well I can tell you they have new hire orientations every two weeks at the corporate office. So that should tell you something. They definitely need to change this policy but the company is so big it takes an act of congress to get anything done there. They put on a good show like they care about their drivers but the pay checks don't reflect it.
Exactly. I keep thinking about this every time I have sat waiting to unload. I should have never taken that gas hauling gig last summer. Shot myself in the foot.QualityMike Thanks this. -
You should do cryogenics because chemicals suck anyway. My buddy left Groendyke and went back to cryo with Matheson and he loves it. He also makes really good money and he's home every day.
Cryogenics slows down but not like chemicals. I wish cryo would slow down sometimes because I'm stupid busy 99% of the time.
It's a billion times better then chemicals IMHO.Adrienna Brown and rubberducky68 Thank this. -
I may look back into Airgas. They are right by my house, pay by the hour and home everyday. Only drawback is I may start out on nights for a while until I can bid on a better time slot. I have another job I am looking into with Waste Management near my house as well. Pulling a side dump trailer hauling coal ash out of South Carolina and North Carolina. Pays by the hour and home every day. Had a really bad paycheck this week (one of several) that sent me looking for another job. I gave Groendyke a try but is just isn't going to work out for me.Adrienna Brown and QualityMike Thank this.

Sorry to hear it's not working. I was told groendyke was a decent tanker outfit. Maybe it's depending on where one is out of huh?
But dosent WM have cameras? Air Liquide bought out Airgas starting in may and finalized in Nov of 16. You may want to wait till the dust settles if it has'nt all ready. I've heard ppl have left after the buyout because of the lower level of benefits was adopted in the accutition.
But I've talked to an Air Liquide driver in Jan and he said he was looking to leave be cause the pay went down. But -
But Air Liquide defiantly has cameras. And I'm not sure how the airgas bunch will like that. Airgas had cameras in certain departments but not all.
-
Air liquide sucks. I worked for them for three years. They own Air Gas now. I talk to a lot of Praxair drivers all over the country and they seem quite happy, actually.

You get used to the cameras. You learn how to play the game. It's not hard.
