On my ole '96 F250 I have a mag-mount Wilson 1000 that I place on the top of the roof. Since I don't use the antenna for anything else, it's dedicated to that truck and stays with it at all times. I do lift the antenna from magnetic contact with the roof when the truck is not in use, just laying the antenna on the fiberglass camper-top until the next journey. This keeps moisture from building up beneath the antenna when not in use.

I don't have a sliding glass rear window, but the factory was nice enough to provide, below the driver's seat, about a one-inch hole with a rubber plug . So, I snaked the antenna's coax down the back between the camper top and the rear window, under the truck, through the hole in the floor and into the cabin from under the seat.

The Wilson had enough coax to travel the whole way with a couple of feet extra, so it worked out well.

That 62-inch Wilson reaches way out there for excellent CB performance when towing my travel trailer through the hills and dales of our great land,.

Your little piece of plexiglass. I think I know how you would do that, but a picture is easy and self explanatory.

Got a ReTrax powered, retractable bed cover on there. I might could do something with a headache rack, but rf ground is iffy sometimes with those. Probably just roof mount a Wilson 5000. I think the metal on the roof is thick enough for a Wilson the way they mount, not sure about a Sirio mount, plus the extra length would be harder on it too. Not to mention the Sirio's extra foot or so would be inconvenient when running around town. . The headache rack appeals to me though because I could use a full whip, My Francis Amazer, or 7ft SkipShooter, when skip is rolling in. We got some pretty high mountain tops around here.:biggrin_25525:

Just go and get a mount made that will fit between the bed and the cab, it can be aluminum if need be. I has to be mounted to the frame and will being the antenna up to the cab roof height.

    mike5511 Thanks this.

Shouldn't have an issue with clearances mounted like this.

That is what I've been thinking of. Stainless Steel would be optimal I'm thinking! I wonder about mounting it to the bed then running some wide braided ground straps to the frame. It would be a little cheaper that way.
