Been off duty 2 hours so far after working 12 hours. Just got called and told I'm needed to go do a 5-6 hour run ASAP.

"Sorry, I can't go. My 16 hour window closes in 2 hours. Can't legally do the job. I can leave in 6 hours though once I've had my 8 hours off if that works?"

Its not hard to say no. We all know the rules, right?

I'm sure it was a fishing expedition, they always go to the one they know will get the job done, first. Which sucks, becuase you get pestered more often.

Mine never dropped, my children were brought about by immaculate conception.

I will say that I was impressed that they didn't push it or give me attitude about it when I refused.

Dear dispatcher, guess you have a problem, because as you can clearly see even before you wasted my time calling me I DON'T HAVE ANY HOURS LEFT

What is the point of all this monitoring crap when management who claims it is oh so necessary doesn't ever use it?

Just wondering here ... but are you required to follow hours of service as a mechanic..? It reads like you were asked to get in a big truck and go drive it for 5 or 6 hours after playing mechanic for 12 then off for 2

I agree you need more time than 2 hours off after working 12 but I'm just thinking is there a legal reason preventing you from working as many hours as you want? Is your work truck large enough you must abide by hos laws for mobile work?

    AtticusRoad Thanks this.

Yep my service truck is too heavy . Have to run logs. Sucks but it is what it is. Would have made for a decent payday having all that OT.

Never got called back so I assume probably not.
