    Hi everyone!

I have been lurking for some time on here, joined, and now cant get enough of this forum.

    A little about me...im 28yrs old, married with a 3 yr old boy(mini me)
Im currently in the USAF, going on 10 yrs. Both wife and I are from Prattville, Alabama. Currently stationed in Minot, North Dakota(not by choice).
    For starters...
I am at my half way point for the military.....I would like to stay and retire ( God/Economy/etc etc willing ) After that, i want to become a professional truck driver. For many reasons. My grandfather was a truck driver, many years ago, and is now retired. My uncle george is still a truck driver and has been since i can remember. He has worked for many companies but is/has been with USF Holland out of columbus,OH for many years, even got to ride along with him for a couple weeks during summers when i was younger(enjoyed every second of it, even though i couldnt drive!)
Since joining the military i have been able to do ( ALOT ) of semi driving, on/off base and across a couple of states ( all under military direction of course ) and overseas ( IRAQ/AFGHAN ) And the desire to drive is still there.

Something about it, the good, the bad, the in between, all just appeals to me and since reading the numerous of posts on here......i am definitely a different breed.....why? B/C i want to do flatbed, and would ALMOST...do it for free!! Not really, well, almost!

Main thing right now, im just trying to get as much info as i can! Forum, watching the youtube/yttrucking.com vids/company websites...everything i can get my hands on. I have talked to a few drivers at rest areas, fuel islands, have bought a few cups of coffee, just to hear the opinions of other drivers and their take on their companies, whether good or bad! I am learning a lot, and fast!

I was at wal mart one day picking up an oil filter for the racebike and was waiting to check out and ended up talking to a driver who was shopping while they off loaded him...must have talked to him for over an hour outside his truck, me and him smoking and jokin! Frankie was his name. O/O for 10 yrs! So im definitely hooked, this is what i want to do for a second career.

Main thing is, when i do step forward with this new career, i want to be better informed then when i was joining the military...I KNOW ALL ABOUT RECRUITERS LYING!! But you live and LEARN!

...im still trying to decide on who i would want to go drive for, i have heard lots of good companies, LOTS of bad companies, also alot of people who really should look at themselves before they say this company is bad for whatever reason.....

i think alot of it is half truth.....just have to find out what half that is!
I am going to continue doing my research, and keep waiting for the day to be able to set out on my own with my truck and flatbed load, and head on down the line! There have been a couple of drivers who have given me some good advice on things, things i might not have thought about or considered....and to them...thank you!

    TJ
