Amsoil makes a bypass filter that uses a spin on cartridge, you might want to check it out.....

If I didn't already have my present setup I'd probably go with a Frantz or Amsoil bypass setup.
You wouldn't see me spending money on the GCF setup, it's big, it's heavy, mounts too far from the engine, and is too expensive.
Just my two cents. -
Thanks Rollin Coal. There was indeed 3 posts in their bypass oil filter board on that site. They were all indicating that they were indeed using paper towels for elements. I will take my question regarding details of how over to that board

FYI, the Gulf Coast Filter you are buying is indeed just a roll of paper towels with a sock on it... You can cut the sock off or untie it fron the top and unroll your oil soaked paper towels...

the gulf coast filters are paper towel wrapped up all pretty with a sock material, 45 dollars at TA truck stop for 2 of them. complete false advertising. Bounty 2 ply. Don't believe me? open one up. Ive been buying theirs for 8 years and didn't know, just found out and not happy at all. They lied like hell . If you are using theirs you are already doing it but just paying a whole lot to do it
