I received some emails over the past few years telling me about new postings to this thread. I decided to finally check them today for fun and this one was the most amusing. I never did work for H&R. Instead, I realized how bad the trucking industry has become. Childhood memories from driving in the truck with my dad should've been left as childhood memories. For me, those afternoon stops with onion rings and burgers while looking forward to the second leg of the trip was something that just couldn't be duplicated in modern times. I'm working the cushy 8-5, mon-fri gig now, making a salary that is 15K/year higher than my best year as a company driver with a class 1 license. You can call me a dummy all you want but at least I have the ability to string words together to form complete sentences unlike you....dummy. I wish all you drivers well. Many of you guys have more heart and work ethic than what you're being paid for and I wish I could change that. Maybe some day. Cheers

Tried that today but nobody would chain up my truck so had to do it myself.

That was probably the "smart" thing to do considering the circumstances.

After ten years driving trucks i applied at h and r and they called me for road test. I came in and did my best pretrip. The safety guy looked at me and said - Thats it??? There is no need for a road test ...
I was literally crawling in mud checking slack adjusters for half hour just to hear this ?! Screw them. The buddy of mine who went there the next day failed too. It was 4 years ago

again for me it was a good companie, in the beginning i took al the trips never say no, hours of service? thats up to me, i came to canada to make some money, after we got kids i wanted dedicated runs up and down from lethbridge to california, sunday morning gone and thirsday or friday back an d 2 days home, it was al possible. however i have seen alot of european drivers who came to canada and wanted to copie the bussines from europe to north america, you cant do that, the same as we have problems now here in europe with cheap east european drivers, if you decide to make a living in a new country do it with open minds forget the past. in every bussines you have smart and good people but also stupid and badpeople.

Run, don't walk away from them. They can't keep drivers and have a revloving door of retention. You don't make the miles that they promise, they pay no wait time and treat the drivers like crap. So desperate for drivers that they are recruiting overseas.
