we had a snow storm up here. and the truck I'm in is a day cab single Axel with out locking differential. i was empty and heading for a pick up and had to go over the mountain well i ended up making it 1/2 way.. and thats about how far it was plowed as well. i had to back down a bit found a turn around and yup that was it.. got in there and was not getting out. 4.5 hr what for a town truck. ended up being a 15hr and 15 min day. to get my stops done.. I'm glad i did not end up seeing DMV on my way back to the shop.. so i cud go home.. fun times

I don't see how you were o.k. . The exception doesn't extend your 14 hours and doesn't apply for predicted storms

That's what I'd be telling the DOT cop.....he'd be sympathetic to your problem.

Local drivers can use the short-haul extension once a week and run a 16 day(just can not extend the 11 rule, only the 14). There is a difference between the 16 hour short-haul rule for local drivers and the 2-hour extention "unforseen conditions" rule. THEY ARE NOT THE SAME.

What he used is the short-haul rule.

Zaptear, you would have fill out a "log sheet" for that day only, since you went over 12 hours.

Are we really going to go through this again? There are countless threads on this subject. Everyone keeps confusing the Short-haul rule and the adverse weather rule. Local drivers are allowed ONE 16 hour day.

    RickG Thanks this.

DoubleR, you drive for AIM right? I see you guys all over but never know if I'm seeing you. I ended going with Valley Bulk and have been here since I moved to PA. Do you drive tractor trailer, or straight truck?
