We got stuck at the Petro in Laramie for the night a few months ago and we ended up having a conversation with another trucker over dinner, when it came time to go get showers my husband asked the other driver if he knew where the shower kiosk was and if it took cash or not. The other driver seemed a little confused as to why we needed to put cash in the thing. We explained that our company only allows us to fuel af PFJ, so we only have shower credits there, and would need to buy shower credits. He couldn't get his card out fast enough lol, he seemed genuinely bothered by the fact that we had been about to pay for something that he could freely give lol. I have been in line behind someone who did not have a credit or was about to pay for a credit and will usually offer the the use of one of ours. As a married team, we really rack up shower credits. Since PFJ only charges 1 credit for a team shower and we fuel at least once a shift. We end up with more than we can use.
its not funny! It's the biggest danger we all face in Truckin. Have you ever walked into a stall and see a mudslide that was sprayed on a line from the side wall to the rear wall to the back of the throne? The person that did it didn't do it on purpose. He was spinning around when the mudslide let loose. I saw one that happened. I was getting off the bigroad at the Petro in Hammond, Louisiana. Traffic was heavy and there was a line of traffic off the bigroad. This kid, was riding with his dad in a rig, jumps out the passenger door and starts hoofing it to the Petro. Suddenly, he stops running, turns around and shakes his leg and walks back towards his dad. His dad made him stay out the truck. I didn't know what was going on until the boy shook his leg
While this is certainly enthralling reading, I kinda wonder if a Forum Administrator might come on and "edit" the post...!
Same here, and I've also given showers. I guess it comes back to help a fellow trucker out because you might be the one in need the next time around. Using my Dre Beats machine
Hubby will hand out showers all the time, and we've been given free showers as well. It's one of the few "Pay it Forward" things that you can do in this industry. I've even heard drivers on the CB saying if anyone needs a shower, they have a free one. Kind of shows that there is hope for humanity out there.
Hush, I've observed employees from truck stops approach driver(s) and gave them a free shower...do what you must.
LOL, remember back BEFORE the cards, when flying J had the shower coupons on the fuel ticket, used to have a glove box full of the things and hand them out on a regular basis.
