I gave out a bunch of showers off my card but stopped when one of the nice truckers who I was "helping out" stole the shower head and I got stuck with a $65 bill.

    its called Karma.
i always have at least 5 showers on my pilot card, and if someone is about to pay for one, i'll give him one off mine.
There have been times, when i park at other tk stops and want to shower. and people will offer me one of their shower credits.

Husband has paid as low as $5.00 and up to $12.00 in one place but it was nice and hot an new. He most usually uses the free ones though unless out in some oddball place without the usual namebrand stations.

I'd say bs. I just paid for the man's shower, not signed an agreement that I take responsibility for the guy. They have cameras. They know what he looks like if he ever went there again.

Agreed. Shower heads do not cost $65 either.

I've given a few and received a few. We exclusively fuel at pilot/flying j and always have a minimum 5 credits (and that's showering daily). Sometimes I use the credit just for #2 purposes when the regular restrooms are packed or disgusting

They do not have cameras in the shower stalls. If they did, they would have "legal" proof who did it.
But it probably would not be admissible in court due to the breach of privacy involved.
So The company would rather charge who they consider "responsible". You may be able to fight it and win but the costs involved wouldn't be worth it.
As they say, "No good deed goes unpunished." But I and some good Christians would rather give others the benefit of the doubt and not withhold our help because of one bad apple.
If the barrel of apples is rotten then it would be wise to protect ourselves against others' abuses. I don't think the whole truck driving community is that bad.
