Had a guy try to get a free shower on me today.

You would DEFINITELY see me on youtube at LEAST once.

 

I have only been asked once for a shower by a nice lady driver and felt terrible cause I dint have any left on my card. But the guy behind me quickly stepped forward and offered her one of his. I also saw a driver give two showers to a an older couple that were traveling. They didnt really know how to approach the whole TS shower situation and the lady looked horrified. But this driver steps up out of no where and gives them two showers saving them $24.

 

I have been asked once for a shower. Didn't have any on my card actually at that time I didn't even have the right card for pilot flying j. A few days later is when I found that out stopped in MO at a flying j to get a showed after 18 hours on the road swiped my card at the kiosk a few times it wouldn't work walked to the counter with the fuel receipt from 18 hours ago and showed her she changed my card and got me my shower. In the time she was flipping my card around 3 other drivers were waiting, I had apologized to them numerous times for my mix up all 3 drivers offered to give me a shower off their card if I didn't want to wait for the shower to be loaded on my card. Kindly declined said no big deal. Smiled at the lady behind the counter and said miss help these drivers then worry about my card I'm in no hurry.

I have been given a free shower before down at a little truck stop in kansas. Got there with no cash full of fuel. After sweeping out my trailer being covered in grain dust I asked her how much a shower was she said $8 whipped out my card and she said you have to pay with cash. Asked how many gallons of fuel I'd have to purchase she said 100 couldn't get 100 gallons in as I was full. Lady said there's an ATM over there your card will work on. Ran over to the ATM screen said out of service walked back over said the ATM is out of service. The lady said I'll go clean the shower hunny its on me. Got my shower walked back bought a sandwich and said if you want you can run it through for 8 over the amount she said no its fine. Its good to know there are still good people in the world. And on that day seems like that lady was actually an angel for what she did.

Most don't understand how much a shower actually means at the end of the day.

Giving a shower away is a judgement call for me. I have given away showers in the past and still do but I try to be careful of who I give it to. Remember if the shower room is trashed and they steal the towels and the shower head... that shower room is linked to your card. You can be held liable and if it is a recurring issue or the shower room is trashed badly enough your shower privileges could be revoked.

I am a fair judge of character so if the person seems decent ...sure. But if I detect a little deadbeat in the person...no way.

 

I'll gladly give a shower out to a driver in need...have many times and will continue to.

 

it depends what part of the country you are in because i found the right to work states are some of the worst when it comes to t stop beggers for money and shower tickets Texas being one of the worst, some come out of the woodwork like night of the living dead in that state.

 

I have been given a few showers. My problem was my logs hadn't gotten me to the truck stop yet and I couldn't buy fuel if I wasn't there LOL When I asked over the CB if anyone could spare a shower i got some ######## reply from a youngun and then a driver said to meet him at the kiosk for a shower ticket. I think those are the showers I appreciated most. Bought a shower at a TA once for $12 I would have rather given the money to a driver or even a youngun but it was the middle of the night and well- I didn't want to sound strange to be asking over the CB

 

I've seen guys taking a bird bath in the restrooms and offered them one of my shower credits. No one has ever accepted.
