I believe that to be the situation. he came over the top of the hill hot, saw the loaded truck, swerved and stomped on the brakes. probably a little extra stomp when he saw me coming up the hill in "his" lane.
"Had a runaway," a driver later explained on the CB.

With ABS, I doubt he stalled the engine. Sounds like an excuse to me.

If that hill is what I think it is downgrade not even God's own ABS would help. I'll go along with excuses.
Some company owners do not give a #### about excuses. I had one like that some years ago. IF something came up and he demanded answers, I told him forget it. You already made up your mind, find another driver.
WOT!? and so on so forth. Sometimes I wonder....
What I did learn is document problems. Names, places, times, dates, situation and who says what to whom when and where and why etc. Once i break out that big story book and start off telling the tripnumber in Genesis and tell the story of the problem trip until I get to the Exodus the powers that be generally had enough because they already know all that.
